Small photograph of two Shaker sisters - identified on the back as Sr. Catherine Allen & Sr. Martha Burger. One sister is standing by a large desk while the other is seated on the other side of the desk in a Shaker rocker. Both sisters are dressed in the traditional Shaker garb - long sleeve dress gathered at the waist and falling into pleats in the skirt. Both have a silk shoulder scarf draped around their shoulders and are wearing wire rim glasses. In the left hand side of the picture is a four legged table with a white table scarf and a large arrangement of potted ferns and plants. |
