Description |
Large photograph depicting a group of Shaker (?) brethren within a large grove of trees. There are eight men in the picture, partially standing in the road and on the bank by the trees. There is a small boy standing with one of the men in the picture. A wagon and a team of horses is being driven down the road by a man and a small boy. The people themselves look extremely small because of the tremendous size of the trees. Cardboard mount reads "Lewis and Clark, Official Photographic Co., F.H. Kiser, Director, 602 Goodnough Bldg., Portland, Oregon." Picture unframed as of 6/22/08. Frame located in CSS Vault. Picture is enclosed within a white mat board and then within a large frame which has been painted black. Front of picture is covered by glass and is held in with 3 wide unfinished pine boards and bent-over nails. There are two eyes screwed into either side of the frame and then a thin piece of silver colored wire stretched between them for hanging the picture up. Location of the actual tree grove is impossible to determine. |
