Honeycomb, 78" x 82.75", hand and machine pieced technique, 112+ blocks, silk, black/multicolor, hand quilting (12 stitches per inch), straight applied binding, no batting, red cotton backing Pattern: 160n (Honeycomb), Brackman (p. 31) One-hundred and twelve "honeycomb" motifs are set with black pathways in between. All honeycomb centers are black, and each motif uses two different colors of silk. The backing is made of red wool challis. This quilt was likely hand pieced using paper foundations, which have since been removed. |
